CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers volleyball team will host their second tournament of the season this weekend, welcoming Xavier, Columbia and Colgate for the SpringHill Suites Classic. The two-day tournament will be held Sept. 20-21 in Halton Arena.

Charlotte opens play on Friday at 7:30 versus Columbia. It will be second match of the day as Xavier and Colgate will go against one another at 5:00.

On Saturday, the 49ers play at 1:30 and 7:30 against Colgate and Xavier, repsectively. Other matches include Columbia and Xavier at 11:00 and Colgate and Columbia at 5:00.

The 49ers are coming off a 3-0 win over Appalachian State last Saturday at the Virginia Tech Tournament. While in Blacksburg, freshman Lisa Newell picked up her third-straight all-tournament honor. She racked up 23 kills and 13 blocks in three matches.

Following this weekend, Charlotte hosts North Carolina on Tuesday at Halton Arena. Game one will begin at 7:00.
