Philadelphia, Pa. - Charlotte senior outside hitter Alma Arroyo has been awarded Co-Volleyball Player of the Week honors by the Atlantic 10 Conference, officials announced today.

Arroyo won MVP honors at the Comfort Suites 49er Tournament over the weekend. She finished with a tournament high 53 kills after three matches, including 29 in a five-game win over Morgan State. The Niners won all three matches to take team champion honors.

Arroyo nailed down a pair of double-doubles before coming up short by one kill for a third one late Saturday. Arroyo was second on the team with 41 digs and tops with seven service aces for the weekend. Overall, Arroyo is second on the squad with a little more than four kills per game and more than three digs per game.

The Niners host Davidson College Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Halton Arena.
