Charlotte Lands Three on NCCSIA All-State Volleyball Teams

Niners Tie with Campbell and UNCG with Most Players Honored.

Jan. 2, 2007

Greensboro, N.C. - Three Charlotte 49ers volleyball players have been named to the inaugural North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Volleyball Team released in December. The three athletes from Charlotte ties Campbell and UNC Greensboro as the most represented by any school.

Setter Eden Ramos and outside hitter Cori Dayton, both juniors, were named to the first-team, while senior middle blocker Lynae Mulder was named to the second team.

Ramos set the Charlotte single-season record for assists in a season with 1,590 and the single-game record with 58. She led the league in assists per game and was named to the All-Academic team for the Atlantic 10.

Dayton was second in the A-10 in service aces and third in kills and points per game. She was named to the league's first-team All-Conference list.

Mulder was third in the A-10 in hitting percentage and was named to the second-team All-Conference list.

The Niners finished the 2006 season with a 20-12 record, the first 20-win season for the school since the 1994 season.

The squad consists of students from NCAA Division I colleges and universities throughout the state. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted nominees and NCCSIA members selected the teams. The all-state unit consists of one setter, two outside hitters, two middle hitters/blockers, one right-side/opposite hitter and one libero/defensive specialist.

Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The organization seeks to promote collegiate athletics and student-athletes at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
