HOUSTON - Colleen Hunter posted 20 kills to lead the seventh-seeded Saint Louis to a 3-0 win over 10th-seeded Charlotte in the first match of the 2001 Healthy Choice C-USA Volleyball Tournament at Hofheinz Pavilion.

Hunter finished the game with a match-high 22 kills and a .395 attack percentage for Saint Louis (13-13), while Brooke Minniear and Dani Apted led the defensive front with 21 and 13 digs, respectively. Ember Knobeloch also posted seven kills and four block assists.

For Charlotte (15-15), freshman Katie Hall tallied a team-high 11 kills and four blocks, while Kathleen Ramos contributed 10 kills and a team-high 12 digs.

"This isn't the way we wanted the season to end, but we won't let it overshadow the progress we made," said Charlotte head coach Lisa Marston. "We have a lot to be proud of this season and are definitely excited about next season."

With a winning score of 30-22, 30-26, 30-25 over the 49ers, the Billikens advance to the quarterfinal match against No. 2 Louisville on Friday at 1 p.m.
