FORT WORTH, Texas - The Charlotte 49ers volleyball came up short on Friday, falling at TCU, 3-0. The 49ers close out the regular-season tomorrow night at Houston.

The Niners need a win to create a tie with Saint Louis for the final spot in next week's C-USA Tournament. The Billikens had two league wins to the Niners' one entering the night.

Dominika Szabo led the TCU (18-12, 4-8 C-USA) cause with a match-high 18.5 points. She knocked down 18 kills and posted a block assist. Ellen Rehme also scored in double figures with 13.5 points on 13 kills and a block assist.

Abbey Szlanfucht accounted for 15 points to lead Charlotte (8-23, 1-11 C-USA), posting totals of 14 kills and a service ace. Jessica Kelly and Lisa Newell each scored 11.5 points. Kelly tallied nine kills a solo block and three block assists, while Newell logged seven kills, four service aces and a block assist. As a team, the Niners hit .262, their best hitting percentage of the season, giving up only 17 errors.

The 49ers put up a fight in the first game, but came up short in a 30-28 loss. The Horned Frogs went on to complete the sweep with wins of 30-19 and 30-25.
