CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers volleyball won for the third time in the last four matches, upending East Carolina, 3-1, Saturday night at Halton Arena. The win avenged a loss to the Pirates earlier in the season in Greenville.

Three players knocked down double figures in kills to lead Charlotte (11-12, 3-9 C-USA) to the win. Kathleen Ramos and Courtney Burg both posted double-doubles with 22 kills and 16 digs for Ramos and 19 kills and 19 digs for Burg. Esra Akgun reached double digits as well with 16 kills. Megan Mosness recorded a double-double of her own with 57 assists and 10 digs. East Carolina (6-16, 3-9 C-USA) was led by Amanda Rudolph, who finished with 15 kills and 19 digs.

The Pirates took an early 1-0 lead in the match with a 30-27 win in game one. Rudolph was strong in the first frame, posting six kills and nine digs. The 49ers rallied to tie the match in the second game with a 30-19. Burg and Ramos combined for 12 of Charlotte's 17 kills as the team hit .433. The Niners picked up steam in the third game when they pulled out a 30-26 win before cruising to a 30-18 win in game four to clinch the match.

The Niners' next match is this Tuesday, when they host Davidson at 7:00 in Halton Arena. Admission is $3 for adults. Charlotte students and youth 17-and-under will be admitted free.
