HOUSTON - Houston picked up their fifth-straight C-USA win Saturday night, defeating the Charlotte 49ers volleyball team, 3-0, at Hofheinz Pavilion.
Houston (10-8, 7-2 C-USA) was paced by Jennifer Wittenburg's double-double of 15 kills and 10 digs. Kathleen Ramos and Courtney Burg each knocked down 12 kills to lead Charlotte (9-12, 2-9 C-USA). Burg also came up with 13 digs to record her seventh double-double of the season.
The 49ers played the Cougars close in the first two games, falling by scores of 30-27 and 30-26. Houston put Charlotte away in the third game, however, cruising to a 30-15 win to clinch the victory.
The 49ers return to the road Tuesday, when they play at N.C. A&T at 7:00 in Greensboro. Charlotte's next home match is Saturday, Oct. 27, when they host East Carolina at 7:00.
