CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Playing at home for the first time in three weeks did little to help the Charlotte 49ers volleyball team's fortune as they fell to South Florida, 3-0, Friday night at Halton Arena. The match marked the first time since Sept. 22 that the 49ers had played at home.

South Florida (10-6, 4-3 C-USA) had a pair of players reach double figures in kills to lead the team. Jolene Patton led the team with 14, while Michelle Collier knocked down 12. Chanda Waller led Charlotte (7-10, 1-7 C-USA) with a season-high 16 kills and five digs. Waller's total was one off her career-best, set last year against DePaul.

The Bulls wasted little time taking a 2-0 lead in the match. After winning game one 30-20, South Florida went on to win game two 30-13. The 49ers made a run at forcing a fourth game in game three, tying the score at 28-all on an Esra Akgun kill and Molly McDonald assist. McDonald set the ball just right again on the very next play, allowing Jessica Kelly to knock down kill and give Charlotte a 29-28. South Florida tied up at 29 on a Patton kill and went on to earn the 33-31 win to clinch the match.

Charlotte takes another crack at getting their second confernce win tomorrow night, when they host UAB at 8:00 in Halton Arena. Admission is $3 for adults, while youth 17-and-under and Charlotte students are admitted free.
