CHARLOTTE, N.C. - With a 16-14 victory in the fifth game, DePaul just squeaked by Charlotte's volleyball team, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Halton Arena.

Stephanie Bishop led DePaul (14-5, 5-2 C-USA) to the win, recording a match-high 28 kills. Charlotte (7-11, 2-5 C-USA) was paced by Esra Akgun, who had 23 kills. Ozlem Ozkan Ayture also had a big match for the 49ers with 10 kills, 53 assists and 14 digs to record her third triple-double of the season.

The teams exchanged wins in each of the five games. DePaul won game one, 15-9 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Charlotte came back to tie things up, winning game two, 15-12. The Blue Demons seemed to take control with a 15-4 win the third game before the 49ers won game four, 15-8. Early in the fifth game, DePaul built a three-point lead, which they managed to hang on to until Christy Galvin tied things up, 14-14, with one of her 17 kills. The Blue Demons retook the lead on a kill from Melissa Nordine then clinched the match on a 49ers attack error.

Charlotte's next match is Tuesday, when they at Davidson at 7:00. The 49ers' next home match is Friday, Oct. 20, versus UAB.
