HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Charlotte 49ers volleyball team got off to a slow start and was unable to recover against Southern Miss Friday, falling to the Golden Eagles, 3-0, at Reed Green Coliseum.

Kelly Tribble led Southern Miss (6-7, 1-3 C-USA) with 13 kills, completing a double-double with 12 digs. Bridget Files added 12 kills and Lisa Downey also finished with a double-double, with 10 kills and 10 digs. Jessica Kelly and Courtney Burg led Charlotte (7-5, 1-2 C-USA) with 10 kills, each. Burg also recorded five service aces.

The visiting 49ers did little to help their cause in game one, giving the Golden Eagles 15 points off of errors and fell, 30-27. Southern Miss took control of game two, cruising to 30-18 win behind Tribble's seven kills. They put Charlotte away in the third game with a 30-24 win. Files led the Eagles with eight kills and four block assists.
