New York City - The Charlotte 49ers dropped their fifth straight decision (all on the road) and second consecutive Atlantic 10 contest in a 3-0 loss (30-19, 30-19, 30-13) at Fordham Saturday night in volleyball action. Charlotte is now 8-7 on the season, 0-2 in league play.
Charlotte has not had an attack percentage above.070 during the skid and Fordham held the Niners to an attack percentage of .046, while being able to put up a .380 attack percentage.
"We played out of character tonight," said Niner head coach Chris Redding.
"We talked about not panicking, but we let Fordham off the hook in the first game. Then they came out and served well and passed well and ran a great offense and we couldn't put it together."
Only one Charlotte player had double-figures in kills, as the team tallied just 26 for the match, tying the season-low single-match total. Senior Cori Dayton recorded 12 kills on a .300 attack percentage. Senior setter Eden Ramos had 25 assists, while junior liberro Carly Romberg had 16 digs.
Fordham had three players with double-digit digs and a pair with 10 or more kills.
"La Salle is now our focus," said Redding. "We need to play good team volleyball. If we can do that, we can get back to playing well."
The Niners return home for the first match in Halton Arena in their last six, as they host a pair of conference tilts. Charlotte hosts La Salle Friday night, September 28 at 7 p.m., and then on Sunday afternoon, Temple visits for a 1 p.m. contest.
