Volleyball Picks Up 3-1 Win Over Furman

Four players reached double figures in kills, led by Ozlem Ozkan Ayture, who posted her second triple-double of the season.

ATHENS, Ga. - With four players reaching double figures in kills, Charlotte's volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over Furman at the Georgia Invitational Saturday night in Athens.

Furman took a 1-0 lead after the first game, posting a 15-13 win. Charlotte answered in the second game, rolling to a 15-3 win. The 49ers hit .556 as a team in the second game. Charlotte went on to win games three and four to earn the victory. Christy Galvin led the Niners to the 15-10 win in game three, knocking down seven of her 16 kills. Kathleen Ramos won the fourth game and clinched the match for the 49ers with a kill.

Ozlem Ozkan Ayture, who did not play in the first game, posted her second triple-double of the year with 10 kills, 36 assists and 11 digs. In addition to Galvin and Ayture, Esra Akgun and Ramos reached double figures in kills with 16 and 14, respectively. Akgun was named to the all-tournament team after 15.7 kills in three matches.

Charlotte returns home to host N.C. A&T Tuesday night in Halton Arena at 7:00.
