Minneapolis, Minn. - The Charlotte 49ers faced its second tough opponent in as many days, falling in three games to Creighton 30-24, 30-24, 30-13 Saturday morning at the Gopher Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota. Charlotte falls to 8-4 on the season, as Creighton improves to 7-4

The Jays could only manage a four-point lead in game one. Charlotte, which never led in that game, got it tied at 22 before Creighton went on an 8-2 run to finish out the game.

Game two was not as close as the 30-24 margin. Charlotte went down 5-1 and never got the game close. Creighton built the lead to 24-15, at which time Charlotte reeled of nine of the next 14 points until the Jays put away game two.

Game three was all Creighton, with the Jays taking a 25-9 lead and go away with the sweep.

Charlotte committed 24 attack errors in the contest, resulting in an attack percentage of .017 on the afternoon.

Creighton outblocked Charlotte 14.5-8. Sophomore Priscilla Barbanell recorded four blocks for Charlotte, while redshirt Freshman Kat Hicks had three.

For the second straight match, no 49er had double-figure kills. Alma Arroyo led the Niners with nine kills. Senior Cori Dayton had 14 digs, with junior Carly Romberg adding 11 digs. Senior setter Eden Ramos had 21 assists for Charlotte.

The Niners finish their weekend in Minnesota with a 6 p.m. Eastern match against UW-Green Bay.
