BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Charlotte 49ers volleyball fell for the second-straight time Saturday morning, losing to Georgia, 3-0, at the Virginia Tech Tournament. The loss sets up the 49ers final match of the weekend, this afternoon against Appalachian State.

Julia Petruschke was the only player for either team to reach double figures in kills, pacing Georgia (6-5) with 14. Meagan Welch also had a strong game for the Bulldogs, hitting .583 with eight kills and one error on 12 attempts. She also logged seven blocks. Charlotte (4-5) was led by Holly Kreyling with eight kills. The 49ers usual power hitters, Courtney Burg, Lisa Newell and Chanda Waller were held to a combined -.174 hitting percentage. Burg finished with five kills, while Newell and Waller had four and two, respectively.

The 49ers played the Bulldogs close in the first game, just getting edged 30-26. They didn't fair as well in games two and three, however, losing 30-15 and 30-17.

Following this afternoon's match against Appalachian, the Niners return home to host the SpringHill Suites Classic next Friday and Saturday at Halton Arena.
