Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers took advantage of a lineup change by Davidson and dominated the Wildcats 3-0 (30-18, 30-25, 30-21) Tuesday night at Halton Arena in NCAA volleyball action. Charlotte improves to 8-2 overall, including a 6-1 home record, while Davidson drops to 5-4.

Senior Alma Arroyo continued hot play. Coming off of MVP honors at the Comfort Suites 49ers Tournament last weekend, Arroyo recorded her seventh double-double of the season in ten games with 16 kills and 13 digs. Arroyo is the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Volleyball Player of the Week.

Sophomore Jenn Webb added 10 kills and five blocks in the contest.

The Niners held Davidson to an attack percentage of .036 in the contest.

"A three-day turnaround is the quickest we have this season," said Charlotte head coach Chris Redding. "We worked hard Monday to get ready for this match. I think we responded well."

The Niners jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening game. Senior Cori Dayton put together a pair of service aces in the opening run. Charlotte had 12 aces overall to Davidson's lone ace in the contest. Charlotte held the Wildcats to just four kills and a negative attack percentage (-.226) against 14 Niners kills and a .310 percentage.

Charlotte led 8-4 in game two, but the Wildcats forced five ties in the game on 10 Charlotte errors. Davidson got as close as 25-24, but a Courtney Cowles ace and an Arroyo kill started a 5-1 Charlotte run to get the game-two win.

Liberro Carly Romberg and setter Eden Ramos both put together four-serve runs to start game three as Charlotte jumped out to an 8-4 lead. The Niners never looked back. Ramos served five straight times in the middle of the game to get the score 17-10, as Charlotte coasted to the sweep.

Ramos finished with 41 assists and Romberg had a match-high 24 digs.

Tierney Hodge of Davidson led the team with seven kills in the match, with setter Hayley Lawson dishing out 21 assists. Liberro Lindsey Woeste recorded 18 digs to lead the Wildcats.

Charlotte heads to Minnesota this weekend at the Gopher Invitational. The Niners take to the court first against No. 13 Minnesota Friday night at 8 p.m. Eastern.
