CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers' volleyball team made quick work of High Point Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-0 sweep in just under an hour at Halton Arena.
Charlotte took a 1-0 advantage after game one with a 15-3 win. Christy Galvin led the team with five of her 11 kills. Game two went almost as well for the 49ers, who registered a 15-6 victory. Megan Mosness knocked down four kills and set four more, while Esra Akgun scored three-straight points for the Niners on service aces. Charlotte clinched the match in the third game, shutting out High Point, 15-0. Galvin led the 49ers to the win with five kills.
Earlier today, Eastern Illinois defeated Villanova, 3-0. Game scores were 15-6, 15-2 and 15-4. Karen Liss led Eastern Illinois to the win with 10 kills.
The Charlotte Invitational wraps up later today. High Point and Villanova will play at 4:30, while Charlotte and Eastern Illinois will play for the championship at 7:00.
