AUBURN, Ala. - After getting off to a slow start in game one, the Charlotte 49ers volleyball team regrouped to win the next three games and defeat Jacksonville, 3-1, in their first match of the War Eagle Invitational.

Jessica Kelly and Courtney Burg each posted double-doubles for Charlotte (3-2). Kelly finished with 14 kills and 10 digs, while Burg knocked down 12 kills and 24 digs. Ashley Ferris tied Kelly with a team-best 14 kills. Jacksonville (1-5) was led by Radka Dimitrova, who had 15 kills.

The Dolphins looked tough early, winning game one 30-25. The 49ers fell behind in game two as well, 11-5, before rallying to take a 16-15 lead on an Esra Akgun kill. The teams traded points the rest of the way until Charlotte picked up the 30-28 win on a Jacksonville attack error. The teams remained close in the third game. The Niners took the lead for good, 28-27, on a kill by Chanda Waller and went to win 30-27. Charlotte clinched the match with a 30-13 win in game four. After building a 14-5 lead early, they took a 21-7 lead on a Megan Mosness service ace and went on to secure the victory.

Charlotte returns to action tonight, when they play Syracuse at 7:00.
