WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers had another tough match Saturday, falling to Northern Arizona, 3-0, in the second round of the Demon Deacon Classic.
Once again, Charlotte got off to a slow start, dropping the first game, 15-5.
The 49ers hung tough in the second game. Esra Akgun's service ace capped a six-point surge for the Niners, giving them a 10-8. The Lumberjacks battled back to take the 15-12 win.
In the third game, Charlotte took a 6-3 lead on a kill from Ozlem Ozkan Ayture. After a Northern Arizona timeout, the Jacks took control for good, rallying for the 15-6 win.
Charlotte faces Campbell in the next match of the Demon Deacon Invitational this afternoon at 5:00.
