Seniors Come Up Big Again For Niners First Three-Game Match

Charleston, S.C. - The Charlotte 49ers hit .379 as a team, while the senior outside hitters had another productive match with Cori Dayton logging 20 kills and Alma Arroyo registering 15 to power Charlotte to a three-game sweep of Illinois-Chicago (30-20, 30-17, 30-24) Friday afternoon at the Holiday Inn Classic in Charleston. Charlotte improves to 3-1, while UIC drops to 1-2.

Charlotte hit .386 in game one and an astounding .484 in game two to overpower the Flames. Dayton hit a match-high .447 in the three-games, with just three errors in 38 attempts. She also posted six service aces, which matched the service ace total of UIC.

Senior setter Eden Ramos logged 38 assists in the match, with not a single player reaching double-digit digs.

The Flames were led by Katerina Hunackova, who logged a dozen kills. She was the only Flame to hit above .260 in the match.

Charlotte next takes on Winthrop in the classic, Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
