Jay Correll begins his first season at Charlotte, and though it is his first full-time Division I assistant position, he has been involved in coaching collegiate volleyball since 2005.

Correll was the head coach of the Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida for the 2007 season, and also coached the Emerald Coast Volleyball Club 16s that year.

He was the head coach for the Birmingham Volleyball Club the three years before that, coaching several age groups including the 18s and 15s.

He has previous assitant coaching experience, as an assistant at Division II North Alabama in the fall of 2005. He was a volunteer assistant in the spring of his last semester at Alabama, working with then-assistant Chris Redding.

Mostly a baseball player through grade and high school, he was a libero on a team in the Birmingham Area Volleyball Association in 2006 for a club that went to the club-level men's National Tournament.

He brings a great deal of positive energy to the staff, utilizing his Psychology degree from Alabama.

He lists "The Shield" and "The Unit" as his favorite television shows, but when asked about what he does in his free time, he noted that most of his free time is devoted to volleyball.
