A-10 Release with Complete Preseason Rankings

Charlotte, N.C. – Since joining the Atlantic 10, the Charlotte 49ers Track and Field squads have dominated during the indoor season. This season is expected to be no different with the Niners being selected by the conference coaches to win the conference crown on the men’s and women’s sides.

After being victorious during the indoor campaign for the last three seasons, Charlotte’s women’s squad returns to action poised to pick up more hardware with top performers returning in each event area.

Lamarra Currie, Pat Springs and Aja Jackson return to the mix for Charlotte and will be looked upon to score big points for the Niners and catapult Charlotte to yet another conference title.

Jackson returns following a standout performance at last year’s outdoor conference championships where she was named Most Outstanding Women’s Track Performer.

Charlotte is followed by Dayton, Rhode Island, Richmond and Temple in the top five of the preseason poll.

On the men’s side, the Niners will be looking to bring home their third indoor title in three years by returning a solid core from the team that edged out Rhode Island last indoor season.

Darius Law returns for Charlotte following an outstanding freshman year which saw the now sophomore being named the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer at the indoor championships and being named the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer and Overall Performer at the outdoor championships.

Rounding out the top five men’s teams are Rhode Island, La Salle, Massachusetts and Temple.

Charlotte sprints into the 2008-09 season on December 5, 2008 when they head to Boone, N.C. for the Appalachian State Indoor Meet.
