Indoor Track and Field Picked to Finish at Top of Atlantic 10

Pre-season Coaches Poll Puts Charlotte at First and Second

Oct. 9, 2007

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's and women's Indoor Track and Field teams were picked to finish second and first, respectively, in the Atlantic 10, according to the conference's pre-season coaches poll released Tuesday.

The men's team, who finished third in the conference last season, returns senior sprinter Jason Moore, who took the 55-meter dash title in the 2007 Indoor Championships and took second place in the 200-meter, and junior distance runner Chase Eckard to the roster.

The women's team, looking to defend its 2007 Indoor title, will miss the presence of Most Outstanding Track Performer (2006; 2007) Shareese Woods, but returns junior sprinter Lamarra Currie, junior distance runner Aja Jackson, and junior hurdler and long jumper Pat Springs, each who posted outstanding finishes at last year's event.

Behind the leadership of 2007 Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year Bob Olesen, the 49ers commence the indoor season November 30-December 1 at the Clemson Opener, utilizing their strong schedule to build to the A-10 Indoor Championships February 16 in Rhode Island.
