FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Charlotte 49ers' Will Montgomery has been recognized as an All-American for his performance in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships earlier this month at Arkansas. It is the second time he has been named All-America after earning the same status at last season's outdoor championships.

He finished 11th in the event, but All-America notice is awarded to the top eight Americans. Of the 10 people who finished ahead of him, five were from outside the United States. Montgomery logged a jump of 24'7.75". Miguel Pate won the event for Alabama with a distance of 27'4.5".

Montgomery is the third All-American for the 49ers' track and field program, joining Molly Kerin in 1995 and Rephel Martin in 2000, and is the first two-time honoree. He was sixth in the long jump at the 2001 outdoor meet with a distance of 25'4.75".

Charlotte returns to action this weekend, when they compete at Wake Forest.
