Johnson To Represent 49ers At NCAA Indoor Track Championships

Sharonda Johnson is the first member of the 49ers to go to the NCAA Indoor Championships.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Charlotte 49ers' Sharonda Johnson has been accepted to compete in this year's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The first member of the women's team to compete at indoors, the championships will be held at Arkansas, March 12-13.

Johnson posted three provisional qualifying marks for the triple jump this season. She had her highest mark last weekend, when she covered a distance of 43-0.25 to win the event at Virginia Tech. Johnson is seeded 14th for this year's championships.

Johnson is the third member from the women's to compete at the NCAA Championships. The other two, Molly Kerin (1995) and Amber Reddick (2003), both competed at the outdoor championships.

The women's triple jump will be held on Saturday at 4:10 p.m.
