SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Amber Reddick competed for the Charlotte 49ers at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, Thursday night, placing 19th in the qualifying round for the triple jump. The top 12 advanced to Saturday's finals.
Reddick, a senior from Durham, N.C., jumped a distance of 40-11.75, her second-best mark this season. Last month, she recorded a distance of 42-2 at the NCAA East Regionals, earning her a trip to this week's championships. It was her first trip to the NCAA Championships. She is the first member of the women's team to compete at the NCAA Championships since Molly Kerin earned All-America honors in the 5,000 in 1995.
Reddick's next meet will be the USA Track and Field Championships. The four-day meet will be hosted by Stanford, June 19-22. She is one of Charlotte athletes competing next week. Sharonda Johnson, James Bacon and Benjamin McCallum will compete at the USA Junior Nationals, June 19-21 at Stanford.
