FAIRFAX, Va. - The Charlotte 49ers' Amber Reddick has earned a trip to the NCAA Track and Field Championships, which will be held at Sacramento State, June 11-14. Reddick qualified for NCAAs with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump at this weekend's NCAA Regionals at George Mason.
Reddick, the Conference USA champion in the long jump, was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 42-2. Her mark is the best for the 49ers this season and a school record. The previous record was 40-11, set by Sharonda Johnson earlier this season at Clemson. Reddick is also now qualified for the USA Track and Field Championships, which will be held at Stanford in June.
Adrienne Barnette, the C-USA champ in the high jump, improved on her own school record in the high jump with a height of 5-7.25 to finish 12th.
This is the first season that the country has been broken into regions. Charlotte is part of the East Region, the toughest in the nation. The top five individuals and top three relay teams advance to the NCAA Championships.
