BATON ROUGE, La. - The Charlotte 49ers' Derrick Johnson wrapped up the track and field team's season Thursday night, competing in the 100-meter dash preliminaries at the NCAA Championships at LSU.

Johnson, a freshman from Charleston, W.Va., placed 19th in the prelims of the 100, missing the cut to advance to the semifinals. He covered the distance in a time of 10.52. Tonight's event was the second in as many days for Johnson, who competed in the 200 meters last night.

Johnson was joined at NCAAs by teammates Will Montgomery and Matt Rausch. Montgomery finished seventh in the long jump on Wednesday, earning him his third All-America citation.
