GAINESVILLE, Fla. - A pair of 49ers advanced to the NCAA Track Championships on the final day of the East Regional Championships, Saturday at Florida.

Derrick Johnson highlighted Charlotte's effort, earning a trip to Texas for NCAAs in both the 100- and 200-meter dash. He placed third in the 100 with a time of 10.30 seconds, and was fifth in the 200 with a 20.89 time. His time in the 200 matched his best of the season.

Adrienne Barnette advanced for the women's team in the high jump. She placed fifth with a height of 5-10.5, a school record.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team, which broke the school record in the prelims on Friday, finished seventh in the finals.

Sharonda Johnson finished outside the top five and did not earn an automatic berth. She is still in the running for an at-large bid. Those will be announced early next week.

This year's NCAA Track and Field Championships will be hosted by Texas, June 9-12.
