ATHENS, Ga, - Senior hurdler Twann Atkins posted an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the 110-meter hurdles to lead the track and field teams at last week's Georgia Invitational. It is his second such mark this season.
Atkins came down the stretch in 14.17 seconds, his fastest time in the event this season. His previous best was 14.18 at Virginia Tech. He finished fourth overall.
Amber Reddick led the women's team. She finished 6th in the triple jump with a height of 40'4", her third-best mark this season. Aisha Thomas also placed sixth in an event, the 400-meter dash, with a time of 56.05.
The 49ers will take this weekend off before competing at next week's Conference USA Championships. The championships will be hosted by Charlotte, May 15-17, at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.
