BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Charlotte 49ers' track and field teams broke a pair of records at last week's Virginia Tech Invitational. Adam Evans lowered the school's best time in the 400 meters, while Danielle Taylor broke her own record in the pole vault.

Evans won the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.89. It broke his own record, set earlier this season at Clemson. It is also an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Twann Atkins also posted an regional qualifying time for the men, winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.18.

In the women's pole vault, Danielle Taylor broke her own school record with a height of 12'. It bettered her previous best mark of 11'6.25" by nearly six inches. Like Evans and Atkins, her performance was also a regional-qualifying effort.

This weekend, the team will travel to Athens, Ga., for the Georgia Eight-Team Invitational. It will be the Niners' final tuneup before the Conference USA Championship, which will be held at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center, May 15-17.
