Davidson, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers captured 11 event championships at Davidson's Irwin Belk Invitational on Saturday, including Adrienne Barnette's NCAA Regional Qualifying win in the high jump.

The 49ers established five meet records. Including previously-held marks, Charlotte athletes now hold 12 records at their cross-town rival's annual meet.

Barnette, who had previously qualified in the high jump, improved upon her season-best height when she cleared 1.76 meters (5 feet, 9.25 inches). She once again attempted a new school record but could not clear the height in two close attempts.

Along with Barnette, there were 10 other individual winners for the Niners.

Shareese Woods, who qualified for the NCAA Regional in four events last week, continued to stay hot with three event wins this weekend. She ran on the first-place 4x400-meter relay, and individually won the 200 and 400 meter dashes. In the 400, she posted a Regional-qualifying time once again and established a new meet record. The 4x400 team also broke the meet record.

Ben McCallum was a two-time winner at Belk, taking the individual 200 meter dash championship as well as running a leg on the winning 4x100 meter relay. McCallum's 200-dash time (21.34) established a new meet record, breaking the mark previously held by teammate James Hanna.

Charlotte's 4x400 relay also won at Davidson with a new meet-record time.

James Bacon was the individual winner in the 400 meter dash, while Verun Tahiliani was the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase titlist to round out the men's winners. Tahiliani established a meet record in the steeple.

On the women's side, Amelia Slagle took the title in the 3,000-meter run and Paris Smith finished first in the 400-meter hurdles.

Up next for the 49ers is the prestigious Penn Relays, the final regular-season event before the team's last C-USA Championships in Houston.
