Athens, Ga. - Tsehaye Dagnachew established a new facility record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, highlighting the final day of action for the Charlotte 49ers outdoor track team at Georgia's Bulldog Limited on Saturday.

The student-athletes who competed at the University of Georgia posted 10 marks that rank among the all-time top ten at Charlotte.

Another portion of the team competed at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro on Saturday.

WOMEN'S RECAP

Tsehaye Dagnachew, running in front wire-to-wire, established a new facility record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:30.68. She won the event by over 23 seconds and broke the facility record by nearly 24 seconds.

That mark will put her in the low-to-mid teens in the national rankings that come out each Monday afternoon. That time qualifies her to compete at the NCAA East Regional Championships later this spring.

Freshman Liana Blue had a new personal-best time in that event at 12:13.88, and improvement of nearly eight seconds over her previous time. She is now third all-time at the school.

In the women's long jump, freshman Pat Springs went 19 feet, 3.25 inches to finish second in the event, making the distance on her third jump of the day. That improves upon her sixth-place standing all-time at Charlotte and was just a centimeter off her A-10 leading mark from earlier this season.

Also with a personal-best distance in the long jump was Tayesha Gass-Gray, who went 19 feet, 2.75 inches for third place. That improves upon her seventh all-time standing.

Springs ran 12.19 in the 100-meter dash as well, putting her just outside the all-time top 10.

Cori Dayton threw 31.91 meters (104' 8") in the javelin to finish third. She is now eighth all-time at Charlotte.

Jelaine Sellers tied her personal and season-best mark in the high jump at 5 feet, 5 inches. That gave her a third-place finish in the event. Just behind Sellers was Sharonda Johnson, who cleared 5 feet, 3 inches for fourth place. Kali Falvo cleared 4-11 to tie for seventh place.

Cassie Ficken won the women's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:32.87, while freshman Aja Jackson (4:44.54) was second and senior Liz Smith third (4:47.36). Amelia Slagle, Jessica Schlegel and Erin Macauley finished 6-7-8 in the same race.

Aja Jackson finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:15.26, and Ficken was sixth at 2:18.88. That is her first entry onto that race's all-time list at Charlotte, putting Cassie 10th. Jessica Schlegel (2:27.65) and Erin Macauley (2:29.18) were seventh and eighth in Saturday's race.

MEN'S RECAP

Morris LeBlanc had his second personal best in as many days, this time going 23 feet in the long jump to finish second behind teammate LaMarcus Outing. LeBlanc's distance, coming in his second-last attempt, improves him to sixth on the 49ers' all-time list.

Outing won the event with a distance of 23 feet, 6.75 inches.

In the men's javlein, Kevin Ryan improved upon his personal best with a distance of 157 feet, 6 inches and a third-place finish. That distance puts him seventh all-time at Charlotte. Terry Watson fell just outside the all-time top 10 at 150 feet, 5 inches.

Ryan also tied his personal best in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 4 inches.

Chase Eckard was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 9:51.03, while Kyle Riggins was third in 9:54.65. Riggins' time puts him into ninth on the school's all-time chart.

In that same 800 race, Riaan Lourens was second in a time of 1:54.73, while Russell Slade finished fourth with a time of 1:55.70. Derek Smit was sixth at 1:56.47.
