CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Danielle Taylor had an NCAA regional qualifying mark and broke the school record in the pole vault, while Derrick Johnson posted qualifying marks in the 100 and 200 meters to lead the 49ers at the Charlotte Invitational, held Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.

Taylor broke her own school record with a height of 12-3.5 to place second in the pole vault. Her previous best was a 12-0 mark, set at last season's Conference USA Championships.

Johnson led the men's team, winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.35 seconds, his third NCAA regional qualifying mark of the season. His second-place, 200-meter time of 21.08 seconds is his second qualifying mark, this season.

The 49ers also got strong showings from Adrienne Lunsford and Sharonda Johnson. Lunsford took first in the long jump with a 19-5.25. Johnson won the triple jump with a distance of 42-11.5. Both marks were wind-aided.

Next weekend, the Niners track and field teams travel to California for the Mount SAC Relays.
