GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Aisha Thomas' school record in the 400-meter dash highlighted a busy weekend for the Charlotte 49ers track and field teams. She broke the record at the Florida Relays. The 49ers also had representatives at NC State's Raleigh Relays and Davidson's Irwin Belk Invitational.
Thomas lowered her mark in the 400 with a time of 54.31 to finish sixth overall. It is also an NCAA regional qualifying mark, her third of the season. The other two qualifying times came at last week's 49ers Classic. She also set the previous record, 54.33, last week. Amber Reddick also had a strong showing in Gainesville. She won the triple jump with a distance of 40'0.5" and was sixth in the long jump with an 18'4.5" distance.
Brad Bailey won a pair of events to lead the men's team. He finished first in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles at Davidson, logging times of 15.59 and 53.95 seconds, respectively. Sean Patterson also posted a win, finishing first in the triple jump with a distance of 46'6.75". He was also second in the long jump.
This weekend, the team competes at the Clemson Collegiate Series.
