RALEIGH, N.C. - A pair of freshman set school records for the Charlotte 49ers track and field team at NC State's Raleigh Relays this weekend. Michelle Dixon tied the school record in the 100-meter dash, while Sarah Carter broke her own record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Dixon, a freshman, ran a time of 11.86 in the preliminaries of the 100 meters and went on to finish sixth in the finals. Her time tied Aisha Thomas' mark set at last year's C-USA Championships. Sarah Carter also set a record in Raleigh, lowering the 49ers' top mark in the steeplechase with a time of 13:48.25.

On the men's side, Will Montgomery produced his best effort of the year in the long jump, finishing second with a 24'8.25" mark. The 49ers nearly set a record in the 4x400-meter relay, posting a 3:14.87 time. The record is 3:14.41.

The Niners head back to the Triangle area this weekend, where they will compete at the Duke GM Invitational.
