Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers qualified six individual performers and one relay team for NCAA regionals Saturday at the Charlotte Invitational at the Belk Track and Field Center. Six of the seven regional marks were improvements on previous qualifying marks. Charlotte posted 33 women's best marks of the season and 22 on the men's side. Charlotte won seven women's events and five on the men's side.
Lamarra Currie sped to a 100m dash qualifying time of 11.67 seconds, winning the event. Teammate Courtney Patterson was second, also running a qualifying time of 11.72 seconds.
In her first 400m dash of the season, senior Shareese Woods ran a 53.44-second time in that event. She was nearly a seconds and a half faster than the field.
The 4x100m relay team of Tempess Stark, Woods, Patterson and Currie ran a 45.02 second time also to post a regional qualifying time to the NCAA regionals.
Charlotte's Sharonda Johnson out-jumped her previous regional qualifying mark by posting a 42' 0.50" result in the triple jump.
Sophomore Pat Springs finished second in the long jump, besting the NCAA qualifying mark by leaping 19' 11" at the pit.
On the men's side, Jason Moore qualified for regionals in the 200m dash, with a time of 20.98 seconds.
In other results, Charlotte's Aja Jackson won the women's 800m with a 2:11.92 time.

Moore won the men's 100m, finishing at 10.58 seconds. He was less than a tenth of a second away from a regional qualifying time.
Chase Eckard won the 800m run, posting a 1:52.69 time in the event. He continues to trim seconds off his time to near qualification.
Caleb Henley won the pole vault at a meet for the second straight week, clearing a 15' 1" mark in the event.
"The Charlotte Invitational went very well in all respects," said Niners head coach Bob Olesen. "It was a beautiful day for a track meet and we took advantage of it making great strides on improving our performances as we approach the midpoint of our outdoor season."
Charlotte will send competitors to the Texas Relays and in Austin, Tex. and the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C. next weekend.
