WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers track and field team continued to break records at the Wake Forest Invitational. Like their teammates who competed at Davidson over the weekend, the Niners broke a pair of school records in field events.
Kathleen Ramos, who walked on to the track team from the volleyball team, set a new Charlotte record in the hammer. She threw for 140'7", topping the previous mark held by Tara Clinding. It was her first meet competing in the hammer in over a year.
For the men, Pete Fink tied the school record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15'1" to win the event. He now shares the record with Kevin Hanrahan, who initially set the mark in 1995. Fink also shares the indoor record with Hanrahan.
Charlotte returns to action next weekend, when they send competitors to a pair of meets for the second straight week. Most of the team will travel to Raleigh, N.C., for the Raleigh Relays, while some of the distance runners compete at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
