FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Charlotte's Will Montgomery closed out the 49ers indoor season Friday, placing 11th in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Arkansas.

Montgomery, a senior from Fletcher, N.C., covered a distance of 24'7.75". His mark ranks fifth for the 49ers this season. Miguel Pate won the event for Alabama with a jump of 27'4.5".

Montgomery earned his second trip to the indoor championships and fourth overall to NCAAs with a mark of 25'3.25" at North Carolina's Blue Heaven Classic in January. Last spring, he earned All-America honors in the long jump, placing sixth at Oregon with a 25'4.75 effort.

Charlotte begins their outdoor season next weekend as the team hosts the 49ers Classic.
