JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Charlotte 49ers broke school records in both the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay at this weekend's Niswonger Foundation Inviational, held at East Tennessee State. In addition to the records, the Niners won the women's distance medley relay.

For the men, Charlotte lowered the record in the 4x400 with a time of 3:13.71 in the prelims, then went on to finish second in the finals. The 49ers had strong showings in the sprints as well with Abe Morlu placing second in the 60 meters. He ran a time of 6.90 seconds, two-hundredths of a second of the time he posted in the prelims, 6.88. Adam Evans finished fourth in the 400-meter dash with a 48.02 time.

The women posted their record 4x400 in the prelims, running a 3:56.50. They went on to place fifth in the event. Charlotte won the distance medley relay with a time of 13:07.53. Cassie Ficken also posted a top three for the women. She was third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:08.14.

Next weekend, the 49ers travel to Christopher Newport College to compete in the Winter Frolic.
