JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Charlotte 49ers track and field teams broke four school records at this weekend's ETSU Invitational held at the David Walker Indoor Track Center. The men's and women's teams each set a pair of new records.
Matt Rausch led the way for the men, breaking his own record set last week in the weight throw with a 58'7.5" toss to finish third. He also won the shot put with a throw of 55'7.5". Pete Fink surpassed the Charlotte record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 15'1" and finishing 11th overall.
Aisha Thomas lowered her own best time in the 400-meter dash. She finished just short of advancing to the finals with a time of 56.86. She just missed breaking the record for the 60-meter dash with a 7.73 time, .02 seconds of former 49er Monique Reese's mark. Danielle Taylor was the other member of the women's team to break a school record. She finished 10th in the pole vault after clearing a height of 10'7.5", which bettered the record she had set last weekend.
The 49ers return to action Feb. 3, when they compete at the Clemson Invitational.
