CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Charlotte's track and field team posted seven top-five finishes this weekend, competing at the Tar Heel Classic at North Carolina. The men's and women's teams had three and four top fives, respectively.

Abe Morlu had the highest finish of the day for Charlotte. He won the 200-meter dash with a 22.09 time. It was one of three top-five finishes for the men, who placed third in the 4x400 with a time of 3:18.66. Newcomer John Okonkwo had the other top five. He was fifth in the high jump with a height of 6-11. He attempted a height of 7-1, which would have tied the school record but came up short. As it stands, Okonkwo's height ranks second on the school's PR list. He joined the team this season as a sophomore after transferring from UNC Pembroke.

Sharonda Johnson, a freshman from Raleigh, N.C., turned in the best finish for the women's team. She finished third in the high jump after clearing a height of 5-3.75. Johnson was also third in the triple jump with a distance of 38-10.25. Daniel Taylor posted a top five for the 49ers as well, placing fifth in the pole vault with a 11-0.25 mark. The Niners also finished fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:01.94.

Next weekend, Charlotte travels to Johnson City, Tenn., where the teams will compete in the East Tennessee State Invitational.
