BOONE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers track and field teams ran in their second meet of the season, competing at the Fifth Appalachian Indoor this weekend.

Aisha Thomas had the best finish of the weekend, winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.35. She also teamed with Michelle Dixon, Bernadette Washington and Tayesha Gass-Gray to finish third in the 4x400 with a time of 3:58.23, the third-fastest time in school history. Amber Reddick and Sharonda Johnson also posted top fives, finishing third and fourth in the triple jump. Reddick posted a mark of 38'11.5", while Johnson was right behind her with a 38'11". Her mark was good enough to qualify for the USA Track and Field Junior Championships.

Adam Evans posted the highest finish for the men's team. He ran a time of 48.70 in the 400 to place second. John Okonkwo was third in the high jump, clearing a height of 6'6". The men also posted a strong time in the 4x400. James Bacon, Josh Strum, Abe Morlu and Evans teamed to finish third with a time of 3:16.64, the third-best mark in Niners history.

The 49ers return to action this weekend, when they run at the Big Blue Classic in Chapel Hill.
