The 49ers' first male All-American in track and field, Rephel Martin begins his fifth season as an assistant coach aiding the team in the horizontal jumps and strength training.
He earned All-America notice in the triple jump at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Championships, was Conference USA Indoor Athlete of the Year in 2000, and Charlotte indoor and outdoor team MVP in 2000. He earned All-Conference USA honors eight times in the long jump, triple jump and 55m dash, including two long jump and three triple jump conference championships; holds both the indoor and outdoor school records in the triple jump, and ranks second on the indoor and outdoor long jump and 55m dash all-time lists.
Prior to attending Charlotte, Martin attended Essex County College in his home state of New Jersey.
Martin has earned USATF level one coaching certification and continues to train and compete as a post-collegiate.
