Ray Sheedy was named athlete of the week after claiming the top individual honor at the 49ers Collegiate Classic, October 24-25. He also paced the 49ers to the team title as well.

He claimed his first career tournament title by winning the event by nine strokes as the 49ers captured the team title by 20 strokes.

Sheedy shot a four-under par (212) for the tournament. He was the only player to shoot under par in the cold (39 degree wind chill factor) and windy conditions of the first two rounds played last Monday.

Sheedy and the rest of the 49ers men's golf team do not return to competition until the Hyatt Plantation Club Intercollegiate at Plantation Club, Puerto Rico, March 5-7, 2006.
