Charlotte, N.C. -- The Charlotte 49ers athletic department website, www.charlotte49ers.com, is changing for the better, this week. An increase in the amount of audio and video content, made possible by a new subscription-basis arrangement with streamer Yahoo!, will give fans greater access to Charlotte 49ers athletics.

"It is vital that we upgrade our website to be able to provide additional audio and video content for our fans," said 49ers Director of Media Relations Thomas E. Whitestone. "Our plans are to maximize audio and video possibilities. We want to have as much content as possible available to our fans and through our relationship with Yahoo!, we are now better able provide that."

In addition to men's and women's basketball audio game broadcasts that were available, last year, the 49ers will provide Weekly Coaches Radio Shows for each of the department's athletic programs during that sport's championship season. Also available at charlotte49ers.com will be a "49ers Sports Update" video, produced by the university's Television Production Services Department. That 3:00 - 5:00 minute video will capture the highlights of recent athletic events, feature the 49ers Athlete of the Week and discuss upcoming events. Post-game audio quotes from selected contests, assorted highlight videos and audio from press conferences will also now be available online.

"It is important that we continue to upgrade our website and provide the best and most complete material to our fans," Whitestone added, noting that the 49ers will now be able to consider providing player diaries, audio "blogs", video of special events and community service projects as well as more personalized one-on-one interviews with student-athletes. "We are extremely excited about this new undertaking. The possibilities, like the internet, are endless and we plan to take full advantage."

Through the arrangement with Yahoo!, 49er fans will be able to access all Charlotte audio and video content for just $4.95 per month, or fans will be able to subscribe to the entire Yahoo! College Network for $9.95 per month.
