Gold Duster Dance Team Tryouts Scheduled

CHARLOTTE 49ER GOLD DUSTERS DANCE TEAM TRYOUTS FOR 2008-2009 SEASON
Date: September 4th 2008
Time: 6:00- 9:30pm (approx)
Location: Practice Gym ( Barnhardt Student Activity Center )

Tryout Requirements:
1) Proper dance attire and shoes are required in order to participate. Please no t-shirts.
2) Hair must be pulled back and secured away from the face.
3) Dance Skills: 3 short routines in jazz, pom, and hip hop will be taught in which dancers will be critiqued on knowledge of routine, stage presence, technique, and overall performance. Dancers will also be required to execute a triple pirouette, leaps (switch leaps, leaps in second), and a series of fouette turns including straight leg.
4) You must be a current student at UNC Charlotte and must also be in good standing.

2007 NDA Collegiate Nationals 3rd place
The Charlotte 49er Gold Dusters have been competing in the NDA collegiate national championships, formerly NCA Danz, since 1996. In 1995-1996 the squad was able to secure their first paid bid to the NCA Danz national dance competition where they competed for the first time and brought home 3rd place. The following season, 1996-1997, the Gold Dusters captured the school's first national championship. Since that time the squad has consistently placed in the top 5 in the nation including and additional national championship in 2001. The team works very hard through conditioning and guest choreography every year to compete among the top in the nation. We look forward to another very successful year.
