Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers Assistant Director of the Athletic Foundation Kelly Weatherman announced that the Charlotte 49ers Athletic Foundation raised a record $60,000 at its 30th Annual 49er Club Golf Outing sponsored by OrthoCarolina, Monday, April 16. Proceeds from the event benefit the 49ers Athletic Scholarship fund.

The event, held at TPC at Piper Glen in Charlotte, attracted 128 participants, including UNC Charlotte Chancellor Phil Dubois, 49ers head men's basketball coach Bobby Lutz, Eric Reichard, President of the Athletic Foundation and Dr. James Fleischli of title sponsor OrthoCarolina.

David Stanford, of RT Dooley Construction, served as event chairperson. In addition to title sponsor OrthoCarolina, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated served as the presenting sponsor for the event.

"We are grateful for the support of our sponsors, volunteers and players who make this tournament a success," said Weatherman. "The money we raise from events such as this help the more than 250 student-athletes at Charlotte reach their academic and athletic goals. TPC at Piper Glen is a great venue for the event and David did a tremendous job as the chair for the second straight year."

The foursome representing Shelco, Inc., which included Lutz, won the gross score event. Pepsi Cola Bottling Company won the net event.

Next year's 31st Annual Outing is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 14.
