Sakellie Daniels was named athlete of the week after scoring 27 points in leading the 49ers to two Atlantic 10 victories this past weekend which kept the women's basketball team tied for first place in the Atlantic 10 with George Washington.

The senior guard scored 11 points, grabbed five rebounds, blocked two shots and recorded three steals in helping the 49ers post a 60-56 win over Richmond, last Friday.

Then, she led the 49ers with 16 points and grabbed six rebounds in the 49ers' 77-57 win over La Salle, last Sunday.

In the two 49ers victories, she scored 27 points. She grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out four assists with four steals in the two games.

Daniels and the rest of the 49ers women's basketball team have won six straight and nine of their last ten games to improve their overall record to 14-5 and 7-1 in the Atlantic 10. The 49ers return to the road when they make a conference swing through the state of Ohio. The 49ers battle Dayton on the road, Friday, February 3 at 7 pm. Then, they conclude the road trip at Xavier, Sunday, February 5 at 1 pm.
