Prospective Student-Athletes

We appreciate your interest in joining the Charlotte 49ers team. Below are useful links to assist you in your pursuit of becoming a Charlotte 49er. Our program strives to attract motivated student-athletes who aspire to work hard in the classroom along with on the playing field. The Charlotte 49ers coaches and staff are here to help you develop personal growth and to provide all student-athletes with a positive memorable college experience. As you enter the ninth-grade you become a prospective student-athlete, unless a college gives you any financial aid or other benefits that the college does not provide to all prospective students, at this time you then become a prospective student-athlete. All prospective student-athletes must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. This can be done at the end of your junior year of high school either online at the NCAA Clearinghouse website or by printing a hard copy of the release form and mailing or faxing it to the NCAA Clearinghouse address provided on the website. Once you have entered the beginning of your senior year of high school, you may apply to UNC Charlotte.

Please note that coaches are NOT allowed to call or return your calls until after July 1st (except basketball) prior to your senior year in high school. However, you are allowed to call the coaches at any time. If a prospective student-athlete writes a letter or emails a coach, the coach is not allowed to reply to you until September 1 of your junior year in high school. Those who are freshman or sophomores in high school are also permitted to contact the admissions office for information regarding the Charlotte 49ers and its academic programs

If you have any question please contact the Compliance Office at 704-687-3881.
