Hummer returned to the 49ers in the fall of 2007, after a previous six-year stint with Charlotte 49ers Athletics.

She was a four-year letterwinner for the Charlotte 49ers women's soccer program (95-98). She was a two-time team captain and earned All-Conference USA honors twice. She was a major part of two Conference USA Tournament championships. As a senior, she helped lead Charlotte to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 1998. She also spent seven years in the WLeague where she won a national championship with the Charlotte Eagles.

She is CSCS certified by the NSCA and USAW certified, graduated from Charlotte in 1999 with a degree in Health Fitness and Kinesiology. In 2001, she received a Master's Degree in Health Promotion and Exercise Physiology from Charlotte.
